Our Children’s team specialise in providing tailored legal advice to families in need of support concerning all aspects of adoption cases.

Adopting a child means an individual becomes a child’s parent, even though they are not their natural parent. For a child to be placed with an adoptive family, their parents will need to consent or the Family Court will need to make a Placement Order to the adoption agency, including the Local Authority.

Our dedicated team has a member of the accredited Law Society’s Children Panel and can help with any of the following:

Advice on the adoption process;
The consequences of adoption for potential adopters and birth parents;
Consenting to or opposing the adoption process;
Post adoption contact between the child and their birth family; and
Alternatives to adoption, such as long term fostering, Special Guardianship Orders, Child Arrangements Orders or Parental Responsibility Orders.

We can represent parents, step-parents, foster carers or potential adopters including those who have no existing relationship with a child they are seeking to adopt. The Court process is confidential and we can assist to find out what is happening.
