James graduated from the University of East Anglia with a degree in American Literature and History and joined THB and the Crime department in September 2024.
James joined THB in September 2024 looking to advance his career in Criminal law. He is working towards his Police Station accreditation and plans to qualify through the SQE pathway. Based in the Braintree office, James handles the majority of the cases at North Essex Magistrates’ Courts, managing matters from the Police Station stage through to conclusion. James also assists in the firm’s Police Misconduct department. His approach ensures that clients receive consistent, expert legal representation from start to finish.
James primarily manages Magistrates Court cases in North Essex, including: Client conferences and advice; instructing Specialist Counsel and case preparation for Trial.
He is finishing his Police Station accreditation and has already represented clients at the earliest stages of the criminal process.
In addition to criminal defence, James assists Police officers under investigation for professional or criminal misconduct, ensuring that their interests and roles are fully protected throughout the process.
James is known for his diligent, hands-on approach. He guides clients through difficult stages, from Police Station interviews to ongoing representation, explaining complex legal processes clearly and effectively. Comfortable working with clients from all walks of life, James ensures that every client feels informed, supported, and represented to the highest standard.
Outside of work, James can be found at his local Pub quiz every Sunday. He is also a big fan of going to the cinema and all sports but will say football and the NFL if asked to choose a favourite.
