If someone you love or care for becomes mentally incapable of making decisions for themselves in relation to their finances and/or their health and welfare and if they have not already made a Lasting Power of Attorney then you may need to consider making an application to the Court of Protection for a Deputyship Order.
These applications can be both complex and timely. There is a fixed process for applying for a Deputyship Order which can be both complex and time consuming. Part of the application process includes obtaining a medical practitioner’s certificate and there are also application fees involved.
