Preeya completed her Law Degree at Brunel University London, graduating in 2017
She went on to study her Legal Practice Course and Master’s in Professional Legal Practice at University of Law in Guildford, attaining a Commendation in August 2018. Preeya joined the Family Department at Taylor Haldane Barlex LLP as a Paralegal in October 2018. In November 2019, she commenced her Training Contract with the firm working mainly within the Family Department. In July 2021, Preeya qualified as a Solicitor into the Family Department.
Preeya has experience working on Care Proceedings where there is Social Services involvement. She is also experienced in advising parents prior to Care Proceedings and assisting parents at Public Law Outline meetings. She has assisted parents on a legal help basis and has experience in making applications to discharge Care Orders. Preeya also has experience dealing with international Care cases and on Appeal cases. She understands the sensitivity required with Child Law matters and how stressful they can be for parents and family members.
Preeya has also assisted clients with Divorce petitions, Non-Molestation Orders and Private Children matters.
Preeya has experience working with individuals with mental health issues and learning disabilities. She communicates well with individuals who have cognitive impairments and present with behaviours that challenge.
Preeya speaks English, Mauritian Creole and French.
